Across Canada Day 1

Moncton airport at 11:30 Wednesday night. I arrived excited to see Dad. We threw my things in the truck and drove to a small motel just outside of Moncton. I sent Vicky and e-mail before hitting the sack, and got up with Dad at 6am the next morning.

We were off to Aunt Lavina's for breakfast. We got there a little before 7am and discovered that the trailer had a flat. We settled in for an hour long breakfast/visit with bacon, eggs, toast and juice filling our bellies before a long day of driving. At 8am we said goodbye and took the trailer to the shop where Lavina used to work, and put a new tube in the tire.

Dad had scheduled a short stop in Mactaquac. We had a cup of tea with Aunt Be and even had a surprise visit from Sharyl and David. We said goodbye to everybody, and set out for Ottawa. Aunt Be sent us off with some banana bread and cupcakes (aren't aunts wonderful).

All set, but a little behind schedule, we set off for Ottawa. We had lots of great conversation and fantastic weather for the whole day. Dad didn't want to drive at night, and so we stopped just outside the western end of Montreal at a Howard Johnson's for the night about 100km from our goal.

I called Pierre to let him know that we wouldn't be stopping in for the night. Then I spoke with Joe for a few minutes before heading to bed.
